Jewel Tone Tweed

I don't think I took Tory Burch seriously until this came out. Honestly, this is how seven year old me thought adult me would dress (I was an anglophile, by the way). That is a compliment even though children are notorious for their horrible taste. Stand-ins for a few of these pieces do make up much of my wardrobe. I think the colors, above anything, are representative of my taste. I am not talking about my idealized taste either, but the items I actually wear day to day. These are supposed to be art nouveau (particularly Kimt) inspired, but they also have a little something 90's about them. What did you think you would look like as an adult when you were a child?

  1. As a child, I don't think I thought much of what I would wear as an adult. When I did start to think of it, probably in early teen years, I was most drawn to what I call my "spy clothes", utilitarian and durable, stylish and unassuming, versatile for the widest possible array of social situations, elegant yet also something you could scale a fence in. This is pretty much still what I look for.. I remember thinking that if I worked some kind of professional job, I would dress something like Scully on the Xfiles. -naomi

  3. Scully was one of my fashion icons too, come to think of it. I think she might have been my introduction to "women in men's wear" outside of vogue.
